Milano, Italy and School

Heyy! how was your week? I hope you enjoyed last weeks post and want to hear about this week :)

Guess where I went? MILAN, ITALY!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2011

Destination: MIlan
Method of Travel: Train
Dinner: Kebobs

We went directly from the train station to our hotel   which was gorgeous ... especially considering it was 24 euros per person for the night (including breakfast).

To celebrate being in Milan one of the girls bought a bottle of wine :)

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2011.

We woke up bright and early to get the whole day to tour milan and shop.

Our method of transportation was Sub-way. the subway system was very simple to understand, fast and cheap.
We went to the Scale the Duomo, a famous cathedral. pictures were not allowed inside but I can guarantee you it was gorgeous.

Located beside the Duomo is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. which is a famous high end shopping centre (gucci, louis Vuitton ect ..)

Then we saw the Commercial Bank of Italy

Then we went to the Teatro Alla Scala. It is a world renowned opera house in Milan. The theatre was inaugurated on 3 August 1778 and was originally known as the New Royal-Ducal Theatre at La Scala. The 1st  performance was Antonio Salieri's Europa riconosciuta
Then we went to the Castello Sfrozesco which is The Sforza Castle Museums.
They had many sub museums:
1. Museum of ancient art
2. Picture Gallery
3. Egyptian Museum
4. Museum of Prehistory and proto history
5. Museum of Decorative Arts
6. Museum of Musical Instruments
7. Furniture Museum
8. Prints Collection
9. Photographic Archive
10. Archaeological and numismatic Library
11. Trivulziana library and city Historical Archive
12. Art Library
13. Vinciana Collection
14. Centre for HIgh Studies in the Visual Arts

For lunch I had a delicious prosciutto and cheese pizza and spaghetti bolonaize.
We then just walked around and relaxed.
There is no better way to end a great day than with some delicious gelato ( Italian Ice Cream)

We almost missed our train .. burger king took way too long to give us our food so we had to run through the train station but guess our luck, burger king and our dock were on the opposite sides of the station. But we made it and that is whats important :) ... destination Surval (school).

We had to do some homework on the way back.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2011

For practical service class I was service staff and was in charge of setting the table. It was a butterfly theme.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2011.
Today was just a pastry class .. we made:

1. Creme Patisserie stuffed in puff pastry
2. Cream Puffs with Chattily Cream (choux a la creme)
3. Walnut brownies with salted butter caramel.

My back is doing a little bit better and this week are the final days to prepare for the Touzeau competition. Next week most of the girls will be gone for the week to Dubai on a school trip but I will have normal classes to attend.

Next tuesday we are to attend the press release of the competition and the stores anniversary. On Saturday of next week we are to attend a grand Gala for the unveiling.
